Mega Man 9[a] is a 2008 action-platform video game developed by Capcom and Inti Creates. It is the ninth numbered game in the original Mega Man series, and the first home console game in the series since Mega Man & Bass (1998). Mega Man 9 was the first game in the series not to have a physical release, and was initially released only on the downloadable gaming services WiiWare, PlayStation Network (PSN), and Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA). In June 2017, it was announced that Mega Man 9 and 10 would have a physical release with their inclusion in Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows, along with a digital version released for Nintendo Switch in May 2018.
Using the original Mega Man and Mega Man 2 as the main inspiration for the gameplay in Mega Man 9, several significant features from previous games were left out. Specifically, Mega Man lacks the ability to slide along the ground and the ability to charge up his Mega Buster for more powerful shots.[6][7][15] Aside from using or omitting various elements from past games in the series, Mega Man 9 introduces a time attack mode and 50 optional challenges where certain requirements should be met to be accomplished. These range from defeating a boss using only the Mega Buster to clearing the entire game without taking any damage.[7][14] Downloadable content for all three versions of the game was made available for purchase during October 2008. Proto Man can be downloaded as an alternate playable character. Proto Man is able to slide, can charge up his buster, and takes double the damage of Mega Man, among other differences.[16] Additional downloadable add-ons include higher difficulty modes, an endless stage, and a special stage featuring a new boss, Fake Man.[17][18] This downloadable content was included in Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, requiring the player to complete the game or enter a secret cheat code.[19]

Inafune cited the rise of retrogaming services like Nintendo's Virtual Console for allowing the development team to put together Mega Man 9.[6] Not only does the game carry the gameplay and storyline elements of older games, Mega Man 9 is a return to the series' roots, as the graphics and music resemble how their original games looked and sounded on the NES's 8-bit hardware.[6] Inafune felt that the "time was right" for choosing this style of game to please its fans.[6][15] Capcom's management was supportive in making Mega Man 9 downloadable, but they wanted the game to be 3D instead of 8-bit as they thought the latter would only appeal to Mega Man fans. The team additionally discussed giving players the option to choose between 8-bit and current generation styles.[24] However, the idea for solely using 8-bit eventually won out.[25] The staff was concerned with surpassing Mega Man 2 rather than Mega Man 8, as the second installment in the series tends to receive the most critical praise.[6][15][18][20][24] Producer Hironobu Takeshita referred to Mega Man 9 as "the new Mega Man 3" in this regard.[26]
Although no financial figures for Mega Man 9 have been released, Christian Svensson (Capcom's Vice President of Business Development) debunked all sales rumors shortly after its launch, stating that the company was "cautiously optimistic" about its performance on WiiWare.[61] Both Svensson and Capcom's Seth Killian stated months later that the company was "definitely happy" with the sales of the game.[62][63] Inafune also expressed his satisfaction with the game's success, proclaiming that it far exceeded their expectations.[24][64] A follow-up game, Mega Man 10, was released in March 2010 for WiiWare, PSN, and XBLA. This sequel also features retro-style graphics, audio, and gameplay.[24][65][66] Mega Man 9 was later released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC as part of Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, which also made a slight change of allowing the player to unlock all of the former downloadable content.[19]
Capcom learned the hard way that the traditional 2D Mega Man games do not adapt well into 3D. And a console downloadable game would have been very iffy if it had indeed been 3D, as their budgets and size limitations are much more strict than a traditional game's release.
The day that megaman comes out i probably wont be making beats for my peeps ..at least for a while ....Big up 2 Capcom.. 1 luv Cap!! This splif right here ..I'm smoking for Ya'll..Hssssz..kuch kuch..cap..com..hss..hssz!!
I noticed something in this video, when Mega Man gets hit it has the sound effects from Mega Man 2, also his shooting sounds like Mega Man 2 as well, but this game is gonna be awesome and I'll download this as soon as it gets released, can't wait!
I have a theory that maybe megaman 9 will be released septemer 17th in japan and 19th in europe and in 22nd in USA. this is if nintendo want a head start for the rumored release 24 on xbox live arcade. and on one site they could not release the review before 22nd of september so its possible.
Online 'time attack' record board for each level.Checklist for completing certain achievements (ie: finish game, beat a level with only mega buster, get through level without being damaged, beat the game with out dying, etc...around 50+ achievements).
ADam...it doesn't have difficulty options, BUT there will soon be 'downloadable' content for Hero Mode (which is harder) and SuperHero Mode which is probably near impossible...not to mention other great downloadable content/modes (for a small price)
Well, I'm confused.I have never played a Mega Man title. Heck, the only hard old-school game I've ever played was on VC (Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts) and I'm only up to level 1! Should I consider downloading this? Help would be appreciated
i was reading comments i read one that said they didnt know what sprite flicker was and it was probally answered all ready but i dont feel like reading all these comments, what it is when you have 2 sprites overlapping ( such as the spinning pipe thingy in tornadomans stage ) were the sprite flashis between the two sprites. i think it was put in to truly capture the 8 bit graphics games like megaman was known for.
I gotta say, every level in megaman 9 was not any hard, except for wilys castle. This level is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy hard.... I dislike the checkpoint-system in some areas and it is one loooong level (whith no save-spots) and on top of that: the last boss is ......a monster :S I love this game... but it might be the hardest megaman game I have ever played. I think Ninja Gaiden is easier X) Oh well... Its not broken hard. Just hard.......and even though i complain, I would not have it any other way...... (well.... maybe a better checkpoint-system or similar (A) )
I think capsoft are just going too far now.1st it was an 8bit game, then the game cover, now this. This is just completely pointless, (apart from it being a collectors item). Its like celebrating star wars by bringing out a lightsaber, but it isnt a laser, its made out if plastic and completely pointless.I bet the only reason they're doing this is to raise hype.Almost every week, more news about megaman 9 is updated, they're just raising hype.Although, the game is appealing to me, more and more because of the news, but that could also be their weakness.I didnt even hear of strongbad before, yet I still bought the game and enjoy it a lot (SB 2 next friday!)/I've heard of megaman before, (Havent played any games of it before though), and I havent bought a game of it yet.I'm seriously considering buying it, but depends of review.
i cant wait until monday im buying a wii points card tomorow just in case it does. you guys think i should get mega man 2 and/or strongbad 2 i dont know they look good in all i just want your guys opinion
This is the type of game that will pretty much sell itself, but Capcom want's to rake in as much as they can with it, hense the hype. Considering that it's a huge franchise, and mega man fans are already aware of how the gameplay will be, it has a very low probability of being a flop. Capcom can hype this as much as they want to make as many people buy it as possible.
Happy new year from Cutstuff.net! People come and go in our community but that does not stop Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch from staying alive and up to date. This version includes a couple of new features but mostly fixes and a very important update to the next Zandronum version (bundled with the game). Grab it from the download link below or click here to view the list of changes first!
for a demo is very well done, although I see unnecessary to do remixes of the game, with only a port to the nes I am more than satisfied, I tried the game on mesen and it works well, I noticed very few bugs and some movements slower than in the original game as when megaman appears, when you call rush or how the boss doors open.
Starting the game without DLC (i.e. Endless Stage) installed and downloading it within the game results in error code 204036. Installing the DLC WAD directly results in a "Could not write to/read from Wii system memory" error in recent dev builds and a crash / "Dolphin.exe has stopped working..." message on 5.0. Fixed around 5.0-7991.
Shin'en is a company well known for pushing the limits of every piece of hardware they develop for, and WiiWare got an exclusive title from them that did just that in the summer of 2010. Jett Rocket is like the Super Mario Galaxy of WiiWare, a visually brilliant 3D platformer that looks so good it's hard to believe it's just a downloadable title and not a full retail release. Its gameplay backs up its graphics, too, with a fun romp featuring massive boss battles, a variety of vehicles to ride and a smiling dolphin wearing a metal helmet. The adventure's a bit on the short side, but Jett Rocket impresses through its entire duration. Here's hoping Shin'en keeps up its envelope-pushing attitude on Nintendo platforms for many more years to come. 2ff7e9595c
